Versus Entertainment launches direct sales in the May 25 Special Edition DVD Collector film DEADLY COMPANIONS (The Deadly Companions, 1961) directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith .

Following the cancellation of the television series "The Westerner" actor Brian Keith is hired to star in a cowboy movie. Not having yet to director, Keith suggested the recruitment of young creator of the series in which he had been working, an unknown filmmaker named Sam Peckinpah . Thus fellow mortals (The Deadly Companions, 1961) would become the debut film of one of the most renowned directors in history, author of The Wild Bunch (The Wild Bunch, 1969) Straw Dogs (Straw Dogs, 1971) and The Getaway (The Getaway, 1972).

Versus Entertainment has prepared a special edition that includes the documentary Passion and Poetry: The Ballad of Sam Peckinpah (2005) directed by Mike Siegel, who collects testimonies of numerous friends and collaborators such as cinematographer Ernest Borgnine , MacGraw Aly or Kris Kristofferson. It also includes two short documentaries Passion and Poetry: the young Sam and Territory Raccoon shot by Mike Siegel, the film's original trailer and a video essay by Gerardo Sánchez Fernández. To complete the issue we have prepared a booklet with exclusive articles Roberto Cueto, Jara Fernandez and Mike Siegel .

Synopsis

Yellowleg, a former Union soldier convinces a pair of fugitives to the bank together to assault a hidden city. However, before they can carry out the robbery, another group of thieves are forward kicking off a shootout that killed the son of a showgirl. Yellowleg, feeling responsible, decides to accompany the grieving mother on his trip to Siringo, a remote town now located in Apache territory, where the funeral will take place.
